PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US

We get a lot of questions in the contact feed. Before sending yours in, take a look at this FAQ below.
We might be able to answer your question right away, or direct you toward a better place to find what you’re after.

Are you planning on implementing cross play between PC and consoles?

Unfortunately not. It’s an awesome idea, and probably the thing we get asked about most often. But implementing this feature would be a ton of work, which would mean we’d have to delay all the other stuff we’re working on. We just don’t have the bandwidth for it.

Another consideration is that implementing crossplay would require everyone to link their game to some external profile, either a Playstation or Microsoft account or a game service that we’d have to build and maintain ourselves, instead of letting you play and host games on your own computer. We don’t want to do that.

Is it possible to transfer my DRG saved game from console to PC? Or between the Game Pass and Steam versions of DRG?

There aren’t any official methods to transfer save games between platforms that we can endorse. That said, there are ways for certain platforms – but these methods can be unreliable. Using them can risk corrupting your save file, or your game itself. So we can’t officially endorse these as a studio. If you’re motivated, you can find resources for these methods by poking around online. Fair warning, though!

I’ve lost my progress! My save game has disappeared or been corrupted. What do I do?

We’re aware that some players on all platforms have been dealing with corrupted or lost save files. We’re working on it! But we need your help in gathering some more info to understand what’s going on, where, why, and how.

So if you’re reaching out about a lost save, we’d like to ask you to do a few things:

  1. Read our save file recovery instructions, to make sure you’ve done the basic steps to check for any backup save files stored on your system.
  2. When reporting a lost save, please include as much information possible about what went wrong. It’s especially useful if you can tell us:
    • Which platform do you play DRG on? (Steam/Game Pass (PC)/Xbox/Playstation)
      • If you’re on console, which generation and version are you using?
      • If you’re on PC, what are your computer’s hardware specs?
    • Are you able to recover your save from a local/cloud backup? (See point one above)
    • When was the last time you played the game on your current machine? Have you uninstalled the game between now and then?
    • Are you getting an error report from the system (like ‘save data corrupted’), or has your progress just been reset to the beginning?
    • How did you end your last play session before you lost progress? For example, did you close down the game through the Escape Menu, or did you power down your machine straight away?
    • Did your system lose power, or did you experience a power outage? Did the game itself crash?

Save file recovery instructions

PC

On PC, game saves are stored locally on your own computer, on GSG’s own cloud (and optionally on the Steam Cloud). This means that you should have a good backlog of recent saves to restore.

  • Boot up the game, and skip or play through the tutorial to get to the Space Rig.
  • Once you have loaded the Space Rig, go to the ESC menu.
  • Click “Options”
  • Click “Save Menu”
  • On the Save Menu: Click “Restore Save”
  • Select a recent save from the list and let it overwrite your current save. If you don’t see your save, you can click “Load More” to browse saves we may have stored on GSG’s own cloud. It will restore your save to the selected save, and you should be good to go from there.

XBOX

On Xbox, your game saves are saved both on your console, and also backed up to Xbox cloud storage. You can read more about Xbox’s cloud storage and how to access that right here.

To restore from a locally-stored save:

  • Boot up the game, and skip or play through the tutorial to get to the Space Rig Once you have loaded the Space Rig, go to the ESC menu.
  • Select “Options”
  • Select “Save Menu”
  • In the Save Menu, select “Restore Save”

PLAYSTATION

On Playstation, your game saves are stored on your own console. Cloud saves are only available if you have Playstation Plus, so you only have those if you enabled that feature before your data went missing. You can get help with Playstation cloud storage and file restoration right here.

Restoring from a locally-stored save works the same as on Xbox:

  • Boot up the game, and skip or play through the tutorial to get to the Space Rig. Once you have loaded the Space Rig, go to the Options menu by pressing the Options button on your controller.
  • Select “Options”
  • Select “Save Menu”
  • In the Save Menu, select “Restore Save”

Please note that we aren’t able to access and restore individual users’ save files, or “re-grant” lost items. If none of the guidance above works, you may be out of luck. Which sucks. We’re very sorry if that’s the case.

I’ve found a bug or glitch in the game. What should I do?

Don’t report it by email! It’s much more effective to report the bug via our PleaseFix portal. That’s where we gather documentation about various bugs, and it’s much easier for us to work with you to figure out what happened, and how we might fix it. Head there instead!

I’ve got an idea for something you should put in the game. Wanna hear it?

Sure, we’re always happy to read your ideas! But we get a lot of them, so we can’t always reply to everything, and there’s no guarantee that it’ll get into the game.

If you want to explore your ideas more in-depth with us, you might try pitching the idea to us during our weekly developer livestreams (tune in on Twitch or Youtube). Or, you can post it on our subreddit, to see if the idea gets traction with other DRG fans.
